Our Metavison DCs Monisha M., Nicolas Herrera and Noman Ahsan were in Coimbra for their first demonstrator secondment in collaboration with Mota-Engil and Universidade de Coimbra.

During this visit, the DCs began exploring existing sonic crystals based noise solutions for insulation of railway noise in Portugal.

Bearing in mind the Metavision project goals of reducing mass and volume in manufacturing, the DCs brainstormed methods to produce sound barriers with porous concrete, modeled and created an initial prototype to create low height sound barriers.

This collaboration aims to bring together the DCs’ ideas and, provide a sustainable and novel solution for a wide array of applications requiring sound insulation.
