METAVISION Doctoral Researchers Present Cutting-Edge Metamaterial Innovations at ISMA2026

The METAVISION Doctoral Network made a strong impact at ISMA2026, the International Conference on Noise and Vibration Engineering, held last week. Five of our doctoral candidates (DCs) presented their groundbreaking research during the joint METAVISION-METRAMAT special session, showcasing innovative metamaterial solutions to the broader noise and vibrations engineering community.

Joint Special Session Highlights

The METAVISION-METRAMAT special session brought together doctoral researchers from both European Doctoral Networks to present their latest advancements in metamaterial applications for noise and vibration control. The session provided a unique platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between emerging researchers and industry experts.

PhD Research Presentation

DC4 Alara Karaman delivered a compelling presentation on:

“Predicting dynamical properties of injection molded vibroacoustic metamaterials”

Industry-Collaborative Demonstrators

Three METAVISION researchers presented their metamaterial demonstrator results, developed in collaboration with leading industry partners:

DC5 Alexander Kryuchkov (with Airbus):

“Design and Optimization of a Realistic Metamaterial Solution for Low-Frequency Tonal Noise Reduction in Aircraft Side Panels”

DC8 Marco Antonio Ribera Tejeda (with SBB – Swiss Federal Railways):

“Labyrinthine metamaterial passage for animal crossing in existing railway noise barriers”

DC9 Noman Ahsan (with Mota-Engil):

“Broadband tram noise mitigation using phononic crystal barriers with integrated resonators and top diffractors”

Conference Support

The LMSD-affiliates played a crucial role in the organization of ISMA2026, contributing to the smooth execution of the conference and ensuring an excellent experience for all participants.
